Promoting and Facilitating the Role of the Media and Civil Society Actors as Watchdogs in Anti-Corruption Responses in Liberia 2023-2024

The Promoting and facilitating the role of the media and Civil Society Actors as Watchdogs in Anti-Corruption Response in Liberia was implemented in Nimba, Bong and Lofa Counties. The project strengthened the capacities of 200 civil society and media institutions in promoting participatory democracy and responsive governance and approximately reached 8000 citizens through community level awareness, radio programs and airing of jingles. As part of the project, IDAD developed advocacy strategy for CSOs on political participation, participatory democracy and responsive governance and established a Local Coalition of Political Accountability. Advocacy for the establishment of Regional CSOs legal Clinic/Assistance centers” 2023-2025

With funding from USAID-Liberia/DAI Civil Society Activity, IDAD established two Regional Legal Clinic/assistance Centers in Montserrado and Nimba counties. These regional legal Clinic/assistance centers are strengthening the capacities of CSOs/CBOs to advocate for policy reforms, implementation and service delivery. IDAD provides regular trainings, coaching and mentorships to civil society and community-based organizations to understand key education legislations that include, Education reform Act of 2011, Land rights Act of 2009, Freedom of Information law of 2010, Revenue Sharing Law of 2022 and the Local government Act of 2018 including education and decentralization policies. Since the inception of the project, IDAD has trained 230 civil societies and community based organizations in policy advocacy and has also improved 450 stakeholder’s knowledge and understanding on the gaps and challenges in the implementation of the education legislations through public level discussions, engagements and policy dialogues. The project has reached 20000 Citizens and residents within Montserrado and Nimba counties through awareness, radio talkshows and airing of jingles.

Advancing youth livelihood through trainings and coaching –Funded by USAID-Liberia/EDC under the Youth Advanced Project-implemented in Montserrado and Nimba Counties 2024-2025


The project advancing youth livelihood through trainings and coaching established youth development centers in Montserrado and Nimba counties and trained two hundred young people between the ages of 18-35 both males and females including youth with disabilities the literacy, numeracy, work readiness and life skills of learners who have never attended school or who have been out of school for extended periods of time.
Strengthening Access to Justice and Enhancing Community Responses to COVID-19 and related Pandemics-2020-2021 Funding Partner UNDP

Fifty Traditional Leaders disaggregate by sex/gender from six (6) districts stretching as far as the Liberian-Ivorian border were engaged and trained on the Constitution of Liberia and various other statues including, the Inheritance, Customary, Forest, Land rights and Domestic Laws, Gender Equity, legal proceedings, court precedents, settlement of disputes and the legal referrer pathways for Rape and Domestic Violence Cases. As a result of the training, these 50 Traditional Leaders have understanding about the contents and applications of the above laws and are exercising their traditional authority within the context of the rule of law and existing legal frameworks as anticipated by the project

The Improving Citizens Feedback Mechanism: Leaving No Voice Behind project was implemented for three years from January 2021 to February 2023 in the fourteen of the Fifteen Counties educating Citizens on the utilization of the CFM Platform and assessing community’s experiences with public services in the Counties. The project enhanced community knowledge on the CFM platform and its functionalities. The project directly strengthened the capacities of 5000 citizens’ knowledge and understanding about the utilization of the CFM platform through engagement meetings and enhanced the capacities of over 30,000 citizens through radio programs, flyers and jingles.

The Strengthening Citizens knowledge to make informed political decision during and after electoral processes project was implemented in Montserrado and Grand Bassa County with funding from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The project strengthened the capacities of two hundred youths, women and elders on civic education and non-electoral violence approach. The project further built confidence and trust among political institutions ad created an enabling environment for a peaceful and democratic senatorial elections in Liberia. IDAD launches Citizens Electoral education project-Voice2Rep Campaign

The Institute for Democratic Action & Development (IDAD) with funding from the National Endowment for Democracy through Accountability Lab launched a Voice2Rep campaign to educate Citizens on participatory democracy and electoral processes. The Project strengthened the capacity of 200 youths in rural Montserrado county for a period of six months.
