LEMCOL Opens Dialogue with House Leadership on Legislative Monitoring
The Legislative Monitoring Coalition of Liberia (LEMCOL) took a significant step forward in its mission to strengthen democratic governance when it met with His Excellency Hon. Richard N. Koon, Speaker of the House of Representatives, at his Capitol Hill office in Monrovia. The high-level engagement brought together key civil society representatives committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in Liberia's legislative process. At the heart of the discussions was a proposed Memorandum of Understanding that would formalize cooperation between LEMCOL and the House of Representatives, establishing clear frameworks for monitoring legislative activities and advancing good governance. Speaker Koon welcomed the initiative and directed his Deputy Chief of Staff to coordinate a follow-up meeting with relevant House leadership, signaling strong institutional support for the partnership. LEMCOL National Coordinator Joseph Cheayan presented the coalition's mandate and objectives, underscoring its commitment to an objective, non-partisan approach to legislative oversight.
