The Institute for Democratic Action & Development (IDAD) signed a grant agreement today, January 29, 2026, with the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD). The ceremony took place at NIMD’s office on 16th Street in Sinkor, Monrovia, Liberia, and brought together a distinguished gathering of stakeholders including representatives from the European Union, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), various media institutions, and members of the Legislative Monitoring Coalition of Liberia.
The grant represents a strategic investment in strengthening legislative transparency and accountability across Liberia. The Cluster 1 activities will be implemented in three key counties: Montserrado, Bong, and Nimba, with specific focus on transparency and accountability. As the designated Cluster Lead for transparency and accountability, IDAD will assume primary responsibility for coordinating all project implementation activities, working closely with coalition members operating in the targeted counties to ensure effective execution and meaningful impact.
The partnership underscores the commitment of both organizations to advancing democratic governance and citizen engagement in Liberia’s legislative processes.
Through this collaborative effort, the project aims to enhance the capacity of civil society organizations to monitor legislative activities, promote greater openness in Legislative proceedings, and strengthen mechanisms for holding elected representatives accountable to their constituents. The presence of international partners and media representatives at the signing ceremony reflects the broad support for these democratic strengthening efforts and highlights the importance of transparency as a cornerstone of effective governance in Liberia.
IDAD extends its profound gratitude to NIMD-Liberia and all supporting partners for their continued partnership and unwavering commitment to fostering legislative transparency and accountability in Liberia. This collaboration represents more than just a grant agreement; it symbolizes a shared vision for a more open, responsive, and accountable legislative system that truly serves the Liberian people
